Deansgate & Edward Street
-New Planning application submitted for a small but prominent site in Blackpool Town Centre. The proposals seek to create a vibrant row of small commercial units by remodelling the ground floor shop frontages with traditional proportions and carefully chosen muted colour tones complementing the other units we’ve completed for Blackpool Council.

JBA Headed back down south to revisit one of our former projects on the south coast; a stunning family home right on the beach, which was completed back in 2021.
JBA head to Porcelanosa, Castellon, Spain.
-JBA were kindly invited to visit Porcelanosa's warehouse's and showrooms over in Castellon, just outside of Valencia. The trip included a packed itinarary of factor and warehouse tours and viewing the beautiful products in the showrooms. It was a thoroughly enjoyable and very educational visit, taking away plenty of inspiration for upcoming projects, along with meeting some great local businesses across the North West! Thank you team Porcelanosa!
Work commencing in a Period locally listed Art Deco hotel for the refurbishment of Cafe & Bar area
-Work has commenced at the locally listed Art Deco Hotel on the Promenade, for the complete refurbishment of the Cafe/ Bar area.

Civic Trust Awards
-Team JBA at the Civic Trust Awards! We were awarded the conservation award for the shop fronts across Blackpool Town centre!
Former Merrie England on North Pier
-Team JBA submitted planning permission for the former Merrie England, located on Grade II listed North Pier, for listed building consent and permission to transform an existing space, into a stunning new high end bar, with fantastic un interrupted views over the coast and as far as the Lake District.
La Calavera education centre and private mortuary
-JBA granted permission after previous application with previous agent was denied to convert a former beauty salon, into a training centre for embalming skills. The development will see the creation of an educational training facility on two floors.
South Beach Street Food Vendor
-JBA have been appointed for RIBA stage 4 works at South Beach Street Food Vendor, having already been involved in RIBA stages 1-3. RIBA stage 4 works is the technical design and detail design of each container, in order to realise the clients vision.
Internal Interior design and remodelling of existing cafe and bar within an imposing Art Deco hotel, located on Blackpool Promenade
-JBA have been appointed to remodel and redesign in the internal space of an existing Art deco hotel located on Blackpool Promenade. JBA will be involved with the interior design process, as well as making the space more functional.
Bluebell House Residential Care Home
-JBA submitted a planning application for the development of Former Glengarry care home. The proposal seeks to add a single storey rear and side extension, cladding and rendering to front elevation in order to improve the visual amenities of the site. Biophilic design was a steering design factor during the process of Bluebell House.
International Biophillia Summit Confrence
-JBA is proud to announce employee Amelia Chasey was invited to speak at the International Biophilia Summit on her expertise as a leading Biophilic Design Specialist in the care sector.
Winter Gardens, Blackpool
-JBA were appointed to create visuals for the purposes of having discussions with historic England. The work included the development of confectionary counter next to the entrance of the new conference centre arena and empress ballroom.
Extension and remodel of Grade II Listed building, Liverpool
-JBA were appointed to work on the remodel along with Ground floor extension of the Grade II listed building in Liverpool.
South Beach, Blackpool
-Planning application for new food and destination venue on South Promenade, located in prime location the scheme has received lots of press and talk across the town! The scheme, which hopes to offer a selection of high quality food stalls, includes cuisines around the world- appeasing to all clientele.
International Women's Day
-Today on International Women’s Day, we celebrate two champions of the practice, Amelia and Lucia, two incredibly talented and inspirational (and patient) members of the JBA team.
Kirkham Quality Corridors
-Planning permission has been granted for new shop fronts on Kirkham high street, working with Fylde council, NWDC and Leaming associates, JBA are involved with the highstreet restoration works.
Material Source, Manchester
-JBA headed to Material Source over in Manchester, to collect some samples and do some market research for on going projects. After being appointed for a new prestigious interior design project, to create a Bar/Resturant in a highly sought after Grade II listed building.

-Here at JBA we are right back into the swings of it! With lots of exciting new projects on our radar!
Darwin Terracotta Visit
-Team JBA headed over to Darwin Terracotta, to see how the new faience was taking shape ready to be transported to the Winter Gardens. The faience blocks are to be installed on site at the Blackpool Winter Gardens, part of the new main entrance onto Church street. Darwin terracotta provided work on various world wide projects, including the likes of Harrods London and even as far as The Grace, Sydney.

-After a busy year here at Joseph Boniface Architects, Team JBA headed to Manchester for a well earned Christmas get together, with Dave and Garry from JMP Consulting. JBA and JMP have a long established working relationship, working on schemes in Liverpool and Manchester.

CARE HOME SCHEME
-The scheme; which is currently used as a residential care home; looked to undergo extensive renovations, proposals are underway. The proposed development aims to act as a catalyst in the regeneration of existing Care Home design.
It is the intention of the client and Architects to create an aspirational scheme on the site by creating a single storey extension with a private courtyard. The key feature of this design is an internal corridor that runs parallel to the courtyard; providing patients a safe space to enjoy the view of the gardens without having to leave the comfort of the building.
Large windows will provide natural ventilation and lots of natural light, whilst the use of natural materials such as timber will offer a more homely and comforting environment.
Biophilic Design parameters that will help create a healthy environment that encourages and supports better health and well being.
ANNEX BAR, WINTER GARDENS
-JBA were appointed to undertake visual representation of a proposed bar and alterations to some fixed seating, for the Winter gardens. The purpose of this was for a planning application and listed building consent.
MAMMA'S DELI
-JBA completed the scheme for Mamma's Delicatessen, which is to be located in Blackpool Town Centre. The scheme involved designing the interiors and shop frontage for an artisan meats, cheese and sandwich shop.
BIBAS AWARDS
-Our team here at JBA attended the BIBAS 22 as we were nominated for Construction Business Of The Year Award! BIBAS 22 was held at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, a fantastic evening with some of JBA's Friends, including Jill from NWDC, James from Leeming Associates and Glenn from D&B Consult. Also on JBA'S Table were Beach house owners Hagob & Cheryl, who JBA worked with during the refurbishment of the Beach House, Blackpool.
EMPRESS BALLROOM BAR
-JBA were appointed by Blackpool Winter Gardens to provide imagery for interior alterations of the Grade II* listed complex, for the purposes of a planning application and listed building consent.
MAZZEI CAFE
-JBA were appointed by Blackpool Winter Gardens to provide imagery for interior alterations of the Grade II* listed complex.
BIBAS FINALIST
-Biba's Finalist for Construction Practice of the Year- Award ceremony to take place at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom in September this year.
SOUTH BEACH STREET FOOD DEVELOPMENT
-New development submitted into planning for exciting food development "South Beach Street Food". The development could see Flagstaff Gardens become home to the town’s new exciting dining destination, as well as offering live music. The development would be created through the siting of 18 shipping containers with outdoor seating and entertainment area in the centre of the complex.
If approved, the family-friendly venue will offer a range of international options from street food stalls, “catering for all ages and food tastes including vegan, vegetarian, low-calorie and those with food allergies and intolerances”. The applicant argues that such an option has become common in big UK cities but is largely missing from Blackpool’s current offering.
KIRKHAM QUALITY CORRIDORS
- Joseph Boniface Architects Ltd were appointed for the Kirkham quality corridors scheme in November 2021. In June 2022 the planning application was submitted for the first quality corridors scheme.
BIBAS INTERVIEW STAGE
-Joseph Boniface Architects Ltd were interviewed for the BIBAS construction business of the year award. The interview took place following an application submitted in April 2022.
WINTER GARDENS STAIN GLASS WINDOWS
-The bespoke Stain Glass windows were installed at "Quilligans, Blackpool", the new shop front and windows were designed by JBA located at the Blackpool winter gardens on Church street. Aaron Whiteside installed and made the bespoke windows.
